Hurray for Dave!

The wall is down, the beam is in! If I could do a back-flip I would. Things are progressing well- we will probably have the electrical done Saturday, which means everything has to come out of the kitchen Friday- The cabinets, dishwasher- everything.

After all the agonizing we did over which material to use for the floor we had decided on the Brazilian cherry and I think I mentioned I had even ordered it online. I called yesterday to find out if it was in at the local store and was informed it was back-ordered and wouldn't be here before the cabinets. Grrr! So I went and bought a different kind of cherry out of the store's stock. Wood flooring needs to be in the room where it's being installed for several days so it doesn't expand or contract after it's installed, so we needed to get it right away.

Brayden passed all his classes last semester (this is a big accomplishment for him) so he's now allowed to enroll in driver's ed. I'm secretly glad about this because Shane starts seminary next year and I really need Brayden to drive him. I just can't get up that early.

The kids seem to be having a good summer. We're in the midst of a heat wave, looking at record highs near 100 today and tomorrow. We love the sun, but Seattleites don't do well in the extreme heat. Most of us don't have central a/c- or any a/c for that matter. Dave and I have a little window a/c unit in our bedroom which keeps us from dying of heat stroke when this weather happens a few times a year.
