Life in the Real World
2:45 PM Edit This 0 Comments »Isn't life after vacation a drag? I didn't have a single migraine while I was in Paris which I attributed to the botox injections I had in my neck, but since I've been back I've had a few. My conclusion is stress gives me headaches, therefore I need to vacation 365 days a year. Now if someone would just hand me the winning lottery ticket I'd be cured.
School is finally out for the three younger kids. They're working hard at trying to get out of their daily chores. Weeding seems to be the least favorite. Dishes are a close second.
Speaking of dishes- the kitchen remodel is going full force now. Half the cabinets have been removed as well as the two pantries and most of the wall between the kitchen and living room. I'm trying to keep some cabinets and the stove/oven/dishwasher working until the very last possible minute. I'm really excited to see the finished product, but not excited to live in chaos for the next 6-8 weeks. The cabinets are scheduled to be done in 4-5 weeks.
We finally picked out our granite color (pictured) called 'sunset gold' but haven't ordered it yet. I think I have to go see it one more time before I commit. I did order the Brazilian cherry flooring today, and we had our electrician friend come over and tell us what he'll be doing once we take everything out of the kitchen and get the wall taken down. I'm hoping to only have a completely useless kitchen for 1-2 weeks. I know- I'm not living in reality. I said 'hoping' not 'expecting.'
My 100-day goal is to get rid of everything we don't need in the house and organize the rest of it. I'm doing pretty well since I had to empty half the cabinets already, as well as the closets in the basement so we could put the food down there.
